Cookie policy
What the website stores in your browser, why it is needed and how you can manage it.

The current setup
Essential cookies support account sign-in, security and requested gallery features. Optional DAK Gallery analytics record visits, photograph views and downloads for the photographer, using the gallery reviewer linked to your browser session.
Optional analytics stay off unless you select Accept analytics or enable them in Cookie settings. Reject optional is offered with equal prominence. There are no advertising cookies or third-party advertising or analytics scripts.
Your choice applies across DAK Projects and its hosted apps. Rejecting analytics does not block sign-in, gallery viewing, downloads, favourites or comments. A previous Continue action on the information-only notice does not count as analytics consent.
Cookies used
DAK Projects provides these first-party cookies. Session values can identify a browser session, so do not share them.
| Name | Purpose and location | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
dak_cookie_preferences | Essential preference storage: remembers whether you allowed or rejected optional gallery analytics. Shared across dakprojects.co.uk and its subdomains, path /. Contains a choice and version, not a unique visitor identifier. | 180 days after a choice is saved, or until changed or cleared. |
sessionid | Essential sign-in, requested gallery state and enquiry receipts on dakprojects.co.uk, or a separate session on invoicer.dakprojects.co.uk. Host-only, path /. If you separately allow analytics, the gallery reviewer associated with this session is also used for optional gallery statistics. | Up to 7 days from setting or renewal, unless ended sooner. |
csrftoken | Essential protection against forged form requests. Separate host-only cookies for the website’s account/Gallery service and DAK Invoicer, path /. | Up to 364 days from setting or renewal. |
messages | May temporarily carry a necessary application status message. Host-only, path /. Used only when required by the message-storage mechanism. | Session cookie, normally cleared when its message is consumed. Browser restoration settings can affect session cookies. |
dak_cookie_notice | Legacy dismissal of the earlier information-only notice. It is not analytics consent. It is removed when a new cookie choice is saved. | Otherwise expires 180 days after the earlier Continue action. |
The session cookie has essential uses, but recording analytics with the gallery reviewer is a separate optional purpose. That processing requires your analytics choice to be enabled.
Production cookies use HTTPS and SameSite=Lax. Session cookies are also HttpOnly. CSRF tokens and cookie preferences are readable by first-party browser code where needed. Cookie lifetimes do not describe how long server-held account, gallery or analytics records remain.
Other browser storage
The public pages and live DAK Gallery client do not use localStorage or sessionStorage for advertising or visitor analytics. DAK Gallery feedback is saved with the requested gallery session and account records.
DAK Invoicer uses a service worker and Cache Storage for a public application shell, icons and an offline page. It does not cache invoice pages, private client records, issued PDFs or authenticated API responses for offline use. Cached public assets are replaced when the application cache version changes, and old versions are removed when the new service worker activates.
Downloads that you request are saved by your browser or device. Your browser may also keep normal HTTP caches, history, autofill or downloaded files under your own settings.
